Fijian Tourism Expo

The first edition of the Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) will take place at Sheraton Denarau in Denarau Island from May 5-8, 2014. Following a welcome cocktail function at the Raddison Blu Resort Denarau Island on May 5, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Attorney General and Minister for Tourism, Fiji, will officially open the Expo the following morning at Denarau Island Convention Centre, as per a release.

The Expo is expected to be attended by 150 international buyers. The Expo gives over 230 tourism operators from across the country the opportunity to present their products and services to buyers from Fiji’s largest international markets, including Australia, New Zealand, the US, UK, Europe, China, South Korea and India.

“FTE brings international travel buyers and media to Fiji under one roof where they can discover first-hand everything our great destination has to offer,” said Sayed-Khaiyum.

Already, over 16,000 meetings have been scheduled to take place at FTE, the Minister informed. “The fact that the Expo is sold out demonstrates just how strongly both our domestic industry and international partners are committed to the growth of tourism in Fiji,” he said.

The Expo will also include a Fijian Crafts Village in which 16 artisans will demonstrate and sell varied made-in-Fiji art and crafts. The Expo will also feature live performances from local musicians, cultural groups and artists throughout the three-day schedule, which includes post-Expo networking events and dinners.

In addition, the international buyers will be able to experience Fiji firsthand via a range of Familiarisation (FAM) trips conducted before and after the event.
