Romania - explore the carpathian garden

RomaniaWhen we hear about Romania, we think mainly at three essential components, present on the territory of this country, the mountains, the sea and the Danube Delta. All these form, in addition to many other cultural objectives, the entire tourism potential of the territory.


Romania, with its capital Bucharest, is situated in the southeastern part of Central Europe, in a space that includes a significant part of the arc of the Carpathians, the lower course of the Danube and it opening to the Black Sea.


Romania TourismIt is bordered by Hungary to the north-west, by Serbia to the south west, by Bulgaria to the south, by the Black Sea to the south-east, by Ukraine to the east and to the north, and by the Republic of Moldova to the east.


The relief is developed mostly on an Alpine structure that comprises the Carpathian Mountains, Depression hills of Transylvania, Subcarpathians, Plain and the Western Hills, the Getic plateau. In the eastern part of the country is the Moldova Plateau and in the south one, lies the Romanian Plain and the Dobrogea Plateau.


In Romania dominate the step of Plains and hills. The maximum altitude of the country is 2544m, in the Moldoveanu peak, from the Fagaras Mountains.

The Romania have the following physical features:


  • Hills and orchards: 36%

  • Plains: 33%

  • Mountains: 31%

  • Areas covered by rivers and lakes: 3.7%

  • Lakes: 3.500

  • Highest mountain peak: Moldoveanu (2544 m) from the Fagaras Mountains.

RomaniaThe country’s climate is temperate in the most part, with nuances of transition, as well as with continental nuances, in the eastern part of the territory.


The Hydrography of the country is formed by the Danube River, more inland rivers as Somes, Mures, Jiu, Olt, Siret, Prut, etc., the Black Sea, lakes and groundwater.


Considering, the Romanian population, according to the 2011 Census, it has a number of 20.121.641 inhabitants


The main cities of the country are Bucharest, Constanta, Iasi, Timisoara, Cluj, Brasov, Galati, etc.


The Romania’s economy, stands out through the exploitation of the coal from the basins Petrosani and Motru-Rovinari, natural gas mainly from the Transylvanian Depression, the petroleum processing, chemical industry, machine building industry, and so on.


Considering the agriculture, 40% of the country area is made up, of arable land, which represents the main resource of the country. Therefore, here are cultivated the all plants specific, to the climate zone of Romania.


The Romania’s transport infrastructure is composed of railways, roads, airports (Bucharest, Timisoara, Arad, Bacau, Baia Mare, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iasi, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Suceava), waterways (Danube, Danube-Black Sea Canal). Constanta is the main port of the country, and the largest port on the Black Sea.


Analyzing the Romanian tourism, we can observe that here predominate the mountain tourism, the main resorts being Poiana Brasov, Predeal and Sinaia.


On the Black Sea, in the resorts Mamaia, Constanta, Mangalia predominate the spas tourism. To all this we add the many cultural and historical sights (feudal towns, ancient ruins, monasteries, churches, etc.).


In conclusion, don’t hesitate, to visit Romania, this wonderful country that has something to offer to every tourist who decides to explore its land.
