JK Tourism hosts visually impaired children

Srinagar: With an aim to lure educational institutions and NGOs from across the country to visit Kashmir for camping and holding adventure trips, J&K Tourism department hosted a group of visually impaired children from Maharashtra, who are on a four day trip to the valley. The department organised different games suitable for the visually impaired.


 An official statement said that the trip for 270 children has been organised by a Pune based NGO Anam Prem. “With an aim to lure educational institutions and NGOs of the country to visit Kashmir the Tourism Department extended its full support to the NGO that looks after the physically challenged people in Maharashtra”, the statement said quoting Director Tourism Talat Parvez. 


 “The Tourism Department Kashmir facilitated the group in Srinagar and arranged different sight free sensory and nature feeling activities here. The group also visited different gardens in Srinagar including Asia’s largest Tulip Garden to feel the construction and smell of different varieties of flowers”, the statement said. 


 Today the group visited Sonamarg where the special children enjoyed snow fights and took the sledge rides there. Many other blind games like dancing, singing, sensory art exploration, Double Wrap Run- crawl, walk and run, train chain and selecting the coins of different values etc were organized for them in Srinagar.


 On Friday the Tourism department hosted dinner in honor of the special boys and felicitated the participants, organizers and promoters. Director Tourism, Talat Parvez was Chief Guest while Director Social Welfare, Nisar Ahmad was Guest of Honor on the occasion.
