IATO to write to PM on Kerala tourism’s problems after partial ban on bars in hotels

IATOThe Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) will keep in touch with Narendra Modi, Prime Minister (PM) of India, discussing the issues that tourism stakeholders are liable to face after the preclusion on lodgings of short of what five-star rating in Kerala from lodging bars. This was declared by Subhash Goyal, President, IATO, at a question and answer session before the beginning of the Association’s Convention today. He educated that the Association will look for Modi’s impedance in the issue in order to make a positive move.


While IATO liked that the new government was taking enthusiasm toward the travel and tourism industry of the nation, Rajeev Kohli, Vice President, IATO and Chairman, IATO Convention 2014, said that the restriction would add up to an immense misfortune to the nation’s tourism area overall, as Kerala is a prime tourism goal.


“This forbiddance on alcohol at inns not in the classification of five-star is appalling for Kerala tourism, in spite of the fact that this choice has been brought considering different social concerns. The state’s tourism industry has asked for the legislature to prohibit tourism from this ambit,” said E M Najeeb, Chairman – Kerala Chapter, IATO.


Further, discussing IATO Convention 2014, which will be held from September 4-7, Kohli educated that as such, 1,200 agents have enlisted for the occasion.
