An instant tourism revenue boost could be in the pipeline for Dubai as discussions about revolutionary underwater tourist sites get underway.
Revolutionary underwater tourist sites designed to capitalise on the $3 billion dive and tourism market could be on the cards for Dubai and the rest of the UAE.
Los Angeles-based Dynamic Reef developer, Reef Worlds, is reportedly interested in building sustainable underwater tourism sites in the emirate, and a decision could be made as early as March.
Intended to pique the interest of the thriving dive and tourism market, the revolutionary sites would be designed to look like an ancient Lost City.
As discussions get underway, the underwater tourism design company hopes the sites will become the centre of dive and snorkel tourism in the region and provide scope for further habitat creation.
Dave Taylor, Director of Development for Reef Worlds, said the company is expecting to make an announcement about the Dubai development by March.
He continued: “The Reef Worlds brand is all about sustainability and the creation of new habitat while at the same time adding instant tourism revenue and excitement to waterfront resorts.”
He added that the company will work with selected resort partners on unique underwater habitat projects that “directly support our clients’ sustainability and revenue goals”.
While Dubai is among the first destinations where Reef Worlds is looking to expand, the company is looking to launch similar developments in far-flung locations like the Philippines to boost tourism and regional habitat.
